HKSDC Had a Magical Night with the WNO
HKS DC alumni were included in the Washington National Opera’s Alumni Night on November 22, 2019 at the Kennedy Center for the Performing Arts. First, we were privy to a pre-performance discussion, which put Mozart’s last opera into context. Next, we enjoyed the whimsical, sold-out performance of “The Magic Flute” by a talented cast of “young performers” against creative backdrops by acclaimed illustrator Maurice Sendak (also known for his fantastical drawings in Where the Wild Things Are). A champagne intermission punctuated the delightful performance, after which we were special guests at a post-production party with WNO trustees, staff and cast members. “What a treat,” said HKS DC alumna Barbara Friday, an opera aficionado herself. To enjoy this delightful evening with alumni friends and colleagues made the whole experience even more rich!
