HKS DC alumni were included in the Washington National Opera’s Alumni Night on November 22, 2019 at the Kennedy Center for the Performing Arts.  First, we were privy to a pre-performance discussion, which put Mozart’s last opera into context.  Next, we enjoyed the whimsical, sold-out performance of “The Magic Flute” by a talented cast of “young performers” against creative backdrops by acclaimed illustrator Maurice Sendak (also known for his fantastical drawings in...

Wreaths Across America aims to honor every laid-to-rest veteran at the holidays with a wreath or a rock and the out-loud pronouncement of their name. The program began in 1992, when a wreath manufacturing family in Maine found themselves with a seasonal surplus. Shortly thereafter, they drove through the night to place their wreaths at Arlington National Cemetery. Their spontaneous goodwill inspired others and the initiative continued to grow through this year, when...

This Tuesday, the HKS DC alumni community welcomed an Honor Flight.  The HKS DC Council extends its thanks to the couple dozen participants who braved the heat to welcome the arriving veterans at the DCA gate and then escort them around the memorials built in their honor.

The DC Alumni Council is always looking for ways to connect back to campus, and this summer, we moved forward on that goal!

On July 12, the Council co-hosted a happy hour with the Kennedy School Review (KSR), HKS’s leading student-run policy journal. Current and former KSR editors brought copies of the 2018 print journal and shared a few of the ways alumni can be part of the publication’s growing community of readers and writers.

Over drinks at Front Page, we caught u...
