Hot Debate on Start Ups and Democracy
Our first panel of 2016 saw experts from across the world of innovation debate the pros, cons and future of technology's role in democracy at home and abroad. Organizer Stephanie Sharis, CEO of DailyClout.com (MPP 1999) hosted the evening, alongside the panel moderator, Stephanie's colleague and co-founder, Naomi Wolf. Over 55 alumni and guests were in attendance at the stylish WeWork 'commons' space at the Wonder Bread Factory Building in Shaw.
The panel comprised Deepa Kunapuli (from the US Digital Service and co-founder of The Brain Trust), Matthew Sheffield (Editor-in-Chief at BoldGlobalMedia), Alex Wirth (co-founder of Quorum and College alum 2015) and Kahlil Byrd (HKS, 2003 and founder of FPPCO.com).
Refreshments were provided by start-up Roberts & June, founded in DC by Stephanie Acker Housman (MCMPA 2015) and her husband Brian. They served delicious cocktails, which went down a storm. The drinks were tailored to the subject matter (including the Transparency, Full Participation and On Lime Voter). Email robertsandjune@gmail.com for any private, corporate or public service events in the DC metro area.
We highly recommend Koby and the team at WeWork, and thank them for their hospitality.
