About the event
Join your HKSDC friends for a night at Arena Stage to see the world premiere of “JQA” – a unique, highly-theatrical play about John Quincy Adams by award-winning playwright Aaron Posner.
John Quincy Adams was an alumnus of Harvard University (BA 1787, MA 1790) and later a professor, and served as the sixth President of the United States. Arena Stage writes, “Complicated, passionate and difficult, Adams was a brilliant diplomat, ineffectual one-term President and congressman known for his eloquence, arrogance and integrity.”
The play imagines key confrontations between Adams and some of America’s most dynamic figures: George Washington, Andrew Jackson, Frederick Douglass, Abraham Lincoln, his own father John Adams, and more. At once provocative, haunting and hilarious, this power play challenges the way we think of our country, our government and ourselves.
The HKSDC Alumni Council has reserved a block of tickets for April 2nd, which includes a Post Show Discussion with possibly the playwright, members of the cast, or other experts TBD.
We’ve negotiated the 20 percent discount price ($80) if we sell ten tickets. We expect to meet that number, but If not, you’ll need to pay the full $100 price. So grab your friends and family and plan for a fun night at the theater!
