About the event

Who doesn’t remember the riveting image Marie Yovanovitch, former U.S. Ambassador to Ukraine, testifying before Congress just months after she had been recalled from her post—a post she had not acquired as a political appointee, but rather, a position she had earned as a distinguished career diplomat serving in posts around the world. In addition to her service as U.S. Ambassador to Ukraine (Aug 2016 to May 2019), Yovanovitch served as U.S. Ambassador to Armenia (Sept 2008 to June 2011), and to Kyrgyzstan (Feb. 2005 to Feb 2008). Still, her credibility was attacked. With that testimony and now a memoir, she has reclaimed her own narrative. Madeleine Albright called the book, “A brilliant, engaging, and inspiring memoir from one of America’s wisest and most courageous diplomats—essential reading for current policymakers, aspiring public servants, and anyone who cares about America’s role in the world.”

Yovanovitch has great insights about what’s going on now and what lies ahead in and beyond Ukraine and Russia. Join us for what promises to be a stimulating discussion.
